Postpartum Doula Services

Postpartum doulas come to your home after baby is born to help you have a more joyful and healthy postpartum experience. I arrive with a smile on my face ready to help you with whatever is needed. Do you need a nap/shower/hug? How about breastfeeding/bottle feeding help? Teach you how to bathe, swaddle or baby wear?  Do you need the dishes done and a meal made? I’m here to make your life easier!

What’s Included:

One free one hour interview via Zoom

One hour prenatal via Zoom to discuss your projected needs.

As your Postpartum Doula I will-

  •  I will respect you, your family, your home and your gentle parenting styles.
  • Enrollment into Breastfeeding & More and Baby Care self paced class. See classes for description.
  • Assist you with breast/chest feeding, pumping, alternative feeding methods and bottle feeding. If your needs are outside of my expertise, I can refer you to the best Lactation Consultants.
  • Provide you information for normal newborn behavior, current child development, and provide you guidance on gentle parenting practices.
  • Provides guidance and help with newborn tasks such as diapering, bathing, cord care, dressing, feeding, burping, crying, sleeping, swaddling, baby wearing, car seat, home safety, etc.
  • Care for baby while you have a nap/rest, take a shower, or do whatever you want.
  • Helps with postpartum client recovery- suggestions for comfort, diet, exercise, rest.
  • Prepares healthy meals in your kitchen and cleans up afterwards.
  • Runs light errands- such as nearby grocery shopping, Target, etc.
  • Performs light housekeeping such as dishes, light kitchen cleaning, laundry, take out the trash/recycling, vacuuming, dusting, picking up after other children. (I do not do bathrooms, scrub floors, window cleaning, pick up pet waste or yard work).
  • Care and entertainment of siblings. Tips on sibling preparation and adjustment.
  • Reflection of your birthing experience.
  • Guidance for baby blues/pinks and mild postpartum mood disorders.
  • Email, text and phone support.
  • Provide you with resources outside of my expertise, ex. couple counseling, moderate to severe postpartum mood disorders.
  • Fully vaccinated for Covid19.

Investment- Accepted payments- cash, check and Zelle.
Portland 24 hour package- $1200   Vancouver 24 hour package- $1080 (I live in Vancouver, so my costs are lower to serve Vancouver families.)

Hours- Minimum 3 hours/ Maximum 5 hours per visit . Available MWF’s. Morning shifts can be anytime between 6am-noon (Portland and Vancouver) and afternoon shifts anytime between 1-5pm (only in Vancouver). Email me or fill out inquiry form to see current availability around your due date.

Birth Doula Services

Basic Birth Doula Package

One free one hour interview via Zoom.

Pregnancy Support

  • First prenatal is shortly upon hire, one hour via Zoom. Second prenatal is around 35 weeks of pregnancy and is around 2 hours via Zoom, Third prenatal 2 hours long in your home. Unlimited virtual prenatals can be added anytime for no additional cost.
  • Enrollment in an online self paced Childbirth Preparation Class, Baby Care Class, Breastfeeding & More Class. See classes for full description of topics covered.
  • In your home and hands on Comfort Measures Class at the third prenatal.
  • At third prenatal drop off a doula bag for you to borrow, which includes a TENs machine. What is a TENs machine? What is in the doula bag?
  • A printed workbook that includes preparing for birth, keeping track of classes, birth plan template, planning for postpartum, check off lists and timeline for getting things done before baby arrives.
  • Two books for you to borrow.
  • The above includes guidance on preparing a birth plan. Skills for communication with care team. Tips for preparing for your birth space- home, birthing center or hospital. Tips for preparing for the postpartum period.  Tips for baby care supplies and if desired tips for room set up. Sibling preparation tips if applicable.
  • Access to extensive resource list.
  • Available to answer unlimited questions via email and text/ if urgent via phone call.
  • Free 30 minute virtual meet and greet with my partner/primary back up. When do I use a back up doula? In a personal emergency, if I have a contagious virus, if I am already attending another birth when labor begins for you and once every other month for a weekend off for self care. It’s pretty rare that I miss a birth!

Labor, Birth and an Hour Immediate Postpartum. 

  • On call 24/7 from 38 weeks until baby is born/up to 42 weeks.
  • Text and phone call support for early labor.
  • Arrive to your home within an hour of you asking me to come.
  • Physical, emotional and informational support throughout your birthing time. This may include massage, counter pressure techniques; suggestions for positions, movements, breathing, and comfort techniques; easing concerns; helping you create and maintain a peaceful relaxing birthing space; offering reassurance and encouragement; answering questions; giving guidance for communication and advocacy with care team; offering partner guidance and suggestions to support you directly; giving partner self care reminders and breaks and more.
  • Work as a team with your partner and any other support people you desire.  Partner can be involved to the level of their own comfort.
  • I can provide suggestions for holistic solutions to common hospital interventions in non-emergency situations.
  • If desired I will take photos of your labor, birth and immediate postpartum using your own camera or phone.
  • In the first hour after birth, if desired, I can help you latch your baby onto the breast.

Postpartum Support

  • Postpartum visit (up to two hours long) takes place in your home.
  • I provide you a copy of your birth notes.
  • We review your birthing experience.
  • I provide you information and assistance for emotional support, physical recovery, nutrition, and sleep.
  • I offer breastfeeding assistance, pumping tips, and bottle feeding tips.
  • I can teach you baby care skills- swaddling, diapering, burping, calming baby, using baby carriers, gentle sleep training, etc.
  • If your needs fall outside my scope of practice, I can provide you with the best providers in the South Bay Area.
  • Answer questions via email, text and phone calls.

Be Your Own Doula

This doula package is for the couple who wants to train to be their own doula with a doula tool bag rental!

This is for a partner who is fully committed to be hands on all the way, whether your birth is 4 hours or 3 days! This is for the couple who is willing to be their own advocate and are willing to learn A LOT of information via assigned homework and prenatals. This package requires the both of you to be committed to practicing what you learn to keep it fresh on your mind. What is included-

One free one hour interview via Zoom.

Three Prenatal Visits

What this package does not include, that is included in full birth doula services-

  • Does not include unlimited prenatals.
  • Does not include support at your home and/or birthing location during birthing time.
  • Does not include the ability to give your partner breaks.
  • Does not include pictures taken at your birth.
  • Does not include help getting baby latched the first hour after birth.
  • Does not include printed workbook or books to borrow.

With this package I am not on call for your birth, I will not attend your birth, and I will not be available to answer questions during your birthing time.

Investment $900 Accepted payments- cash, check and Zelle. Plus $300 refundable security deposit for doula bag.
